Introduction to me and my practice

My aim, in setting up Time and Space Counselling, is to enable positive change for my clients by making high quality counselling easily accessible. Mental health services are often under-funded and overstretched, so free counselling, through charities and GP referral can often mean long waiting times, which can increase distress and stretch coping from manageable to unmanageable.

Private counselling cuts through the waiting time allowing you to access the help you need, when you need it. It also enables me to offer you support which is most suited to your need using an integrated approach.

Life brings challenges and having a safe, confidential place to discuss them is hugely productive and rewarding. We update our furniture, our cars, our clothes, but so often we forget to update our relationship with ourselves; we change and our needs change.

Counselling provides an opportunity to take stock of where you are and where you want to progress to.

My approach to counselling

My integrated counselling approach allows you to explore what is going on for you, in a safe, respectful environment at your own pace. Mostly I work in a person –centred way; Person-centred counselling is a talking therapy; through our conversations you can gain a better understanding of why a situation is causing difficulty. By exploring your thoughts and feelings we can work together to identify what needs to change and how that change can take place. You decide what we will work on, but I may make use of more directive skills from other approaches at times, if they are appropriate and helpful to you. I strongly believe in the client`s ability to enable their own positive growth, and will respectfully support your personal experience.

My holistic and ethical approach to counselling will provide you with a safe and confidential place to begin to understand your own needs, motivations, and strengths in order to begin changing things for the better.

My role is to give you the time and space you need to work out what is right for you.
