What is Relationship Counselling & who is it for?

The connections we make with others are some of the most important and rewarding experiences we have. When we have someone to share our thoughts and feelings with, who supports us in times of need and celebrates our successes, we feel happier and the quality of our lives is increased. This all sounds fantastic, but what about when those connections are not working well? The effects of difficult relationships can leave us feeling isolated, anxious, unheard, unsupported, depressed.  Maybe you struggle to form relationships with others and want to learn how to change that.

Time and Space will give you the support you need to look at any relationship problems and find ways to improve your connections with others.

This service can help with the following symptoms:

  • Stress
  • Self-esteem/confidence
  • Communication
  • Boundaries
  • Bereavement/loss
  • Bullying
  • Managing emotions inc anger issues
  • Personal development
  • Loneliness
  • Personal identity

Here are some of the relationship areas I work with:

  • Marriage/relationships
  • Family
  • Parenting/pregnancy
  • Social anxiety
  • Work relationships
  • Barriers to connecting with others
  • Communication

 You are not alone

There are lots of people, just like you, who are reaching out to get help with emotional difficulties. That is fantastic, because they feel able to talk to someone about what's troubling them.

I am here if you feel ready to talk and get the support you need to start feeling better. Whatever you are struggling with, you aren`t alone.

How can talking to a counsellor help make things better?

Maybe you have already talked to friends or family but have come away feeling no better. Sometimes you may not feel able to fully express how bad you feel; you don`t want to burden them or make them worry so you play things down. Maybe you can`t find the right words to express yourself or to ask for the help you need. You might be concerned that talking openly will make lead to conflict that you don`t feel able to deal with.

Counselling gives you a place which is safe and confidential. You never need to hold back and there will be no judgement about your situation. You can express yourself fully and honestly without fear; being able to release pent-up feelings can be liberating and is an important step to feeling better.

Through our work together you can gain a better understanding of yourself, how you relate to other people and what is important to you. You can also find your voice, to communicate clearly and meet your needs as well as the needs of others.  Often, as emotional distress lessens, so do physical symptoms of that upset which will add to your general well-being. I am here totally to support you.
